Agents quick start

Agents v0.10 · Early access · Updated 23 October 2026

Use Node.js 22.13 or newer and a private workspace. The base application has no npm dependencies. Optional local speech requires its separate Python/model setup.

1. Download and verify

Get the v0.10 archive and its SHA-256 record. Compare the checksum before extracting:

Extract into a private directory such as D:\CreekX\agents-v0.10. The archive includes application source, guides and tests; it excludes accounts, workspace data, backup keys, models and private environment files. The included README documents the original development lab; use this guide for a separate evaluation.

2. Provision access

From the extracted application directory:

node tools/auth-setup.mjs admin admin
node tools/backup-key.mjs

Read the private bootstrap instructions in data/bootstrap-admin.txt locally. Do not paste credentials into support messages. Existing usernames are rejected rather than overwritten. Protect the data directory with OS permissions and keep the backup key separate from backup copies.

3. Configure the workspace

Copy .env.example to .env and replace these example paths with your extraction location:

Keep .env private. Use an empty workspace for a disposable evaluation, rather than directing a test at valued data.

4. Start

npm.cmd start

On macOS/Linux use npm start. Open http://127.0.0.1:4317 and sign in with the provisioned account. Keep the terminal running. This starts Agents, not a Media Server installation or a speech model. Without a configured model, ordinary text reasoning remains demo logic.

5. Exercise a complete path

  1. Open Control center → Knowledge and publish a verified procedure.
  2. Create an Evidence Studio profile and search for a phrase from that source.
  3. Add a positive case with the source ID and a negative abstention case.
  4. Save, run the benchmark, inspect results, preview publication and confirm.
  5. Start a new evidence session and inspect its excerpt and citation.
  6. Request an operator and verify the waiting conversation accepts an operator text reply.

6. Stop safely

End the test session, press Ctrl+C in the application terminal and wait for shutdown before starting another writer. See operations for a stale writer lease; never remove a lock while the old process is active.

Optional media lab

The source-backed lab described in the package requires a compatible existing creekX source checkout and separate local speech setup. It is not installed by this download. Review security boundaries before sharing access; do not expose the unconfigured development profile publicly.
