Quick start
From nothing to your first live in about 15 minutes. You will install creekX, make a stream, go live, and send someone a link to watch.
What you need
- A place to run creekX. Either your own computer (to try it), or a server running Ubuntu 24.04 (for real use).
- Something to stream from. The free app OBS Studio on a computer is the easiest.
Step by step
-
Install creekX
On your own computer: follow Try it on your computer. On a server: connect to it and paste this one line:
curl -fsSL https://creekx.io/get.sh | sudo bashIt asks for your email, a domain (press Enter to skip) and a password. When it finishes, it prints the address to open. Your 14-day free trial starts now.
-
Sign in
Open the address in your browser and sign in with the email and password you just chose. You land on Home.
-
Make a stream
Choose Streams, then New stream. Give it a name, for example "Sunday service" or "Weekly show". A stream is one place to send video to; you can use it again and again.
-
Connect OBS
On the stream, open Go live and choose Show key. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose Service Custom, and paste the Server and the Stream key from creekX.
-
Go live
In OBS, press Start Streaming. In creekX the stream turns red within a few seconds: you are live. You see the picture on the stream's page.
-
Let people watch
On the stream, under Let people watch, turn the watch link on and choose Copy link. Send it to anyone: it opens in any browser, no account needed. A QR code is there too, for a phone.
-
Stop
Press Stop Streaming in OBS. The live is saved as a video in Videos, ready to share again or play on a 24/7 channel.
What next
- Send the same live to YouTube and Facebook at once: YouTube, Facebook and more.
- Put the player on your own website: Watch links and your website.
- Turn your videos into a channel that never stops: 24/7 channels.
- Invite your team: People and roles.
