Go live from OBS or a phone app

OBS Studio, vMix, Streamlabs, Larix on a phone, or any app with a "custom RTMP server" option: paste two things from creekX and press Start.

OBS Studio, step by step

  1. Make a stream in creekX

Choose Streams, then New stream, and give it a name. Or open a stream you already have.

  2. Show the key

Under Go live, choose Show key. You see a Server address and a Stream key, each with a Copy button.

  3. Paste them into OBS

In OBS: Settings → Stream. Set Service to Custom. Paste the server into Server and the key into Stream Key. Press OK.

  4. Start streaming

Press Start Streaming in OBS. Within a few seconds the stream turns red in creekX and shows your picture.

  5. Share it

Turn on the watch link and copy it (Watch links and your website), or send it to YouTube and Facebook too (YouTube, Facebook and more).

For the lowest delay

creekX can show your live to viewers in under a second. To get there, set OBS like this:

  • Settings → Output, Output Mode Advanced.
  • Keyframe Interval: 1 s.
  • With x264: Tune "zerolatency". With NVIDIA: Max B-frames 0.

From a phone

Use a streaming app with a custom RTMP or SRT server, such as Larix Broadcaster. Make a new connection, and paste the server and the key the same way. For a phone on a weak mobile network, SRT copes better: see From an encoder.

Keep the key private

Anyone with the stream key can stream as you. If it leaks, choose Make a new stream key: the old one stops working at once, and you paste the new one into OBS. To let someone else stream without your key, give them a guest key (Who may watch and stream).

A backup stream

For an event that must not stop, run a second encoder into another of your streams, and choose it as this stream's Backup stream. While the main one is not arriving, viewers and your platforms get the backup, and the main one again as soon as it is back.
